Buffalo Bills Key Player has Sustained a brutal neck injury with legs broken

Following his interview with NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe on Friday at the Pro Bowl in Orlando, rumors that Stefon Diggs might desire to leave the Buffalo Bills are once again rife.

Diggs did not expressly state that he desired to be traded by the Bills, but he also did not offer a glowing recommendation when questioned about his connection to quarterback Josh Allen or his plans to return for the upcoming campaign.

As Diggs put it, “I have a long offseason ahead of me.” “As far as what the future will bring, I cannot provide any unpleasant surprises regarding you at this time.”

It might mean something, it might mean nothing, but it wouldn’t be shocking if Diggs is dealt this summer or stays in Buffalo following a turbulent season in which he witnessed a significant decline in his output.

Obtaining an impact player in return might be the Bills’ best option if Diggs and the organization decide to part ways. The Buffalo receiver was the subject of five trade packages, including one that saw Diggs going to the Carolina Panthers in exchange for outside linebacker Brian Burns and a trade of fifth and sixth round selections, according to Bleacher Report.

There is very little chance that Buffalo will select a player of Burns’ caliber in the draft or in free agency. He finished with 50 tackles—16 for a loss, one short of tying his career high—eight sacks, eight quarterback hits, and eight quarterback hits.

The fact that Burns must be franchise-tagged prior to being transferred adds another layer of flexibility. Burns will have the best opportunity of his career to enter the playoffs for the first time if the Bills can work out a deal that keeps them under the cap.

Even while Buffalo’s defense was excellent throughout the regular season, it was far from ideal during the postseason. The Bills have given up an average of 33.5 points per game in their last four playoff losses. The defense will be much more successful in the postseason if they have a pass rusher like Burns to carry over from the regular season.

Making the Diggs trade work will be challenging, even though acquiring Burns would be the best-case situation for the Bills. Diggs’ contract doesn’t make things any easier for Buffalo, which Spotrac projects to be $43 million above the limit. Should Buffalo choose to let him go this offseason, he would have a $31 million dead cap charge.
