After a Year of disappointment with Sean Desai the Philadelphia Eagles has agreed to sign a contract deal with….
Longtime defensive player of the year Raheem Morris’ departure to take a head coaching position with the Atlanta Falcons in the offseason dealt a serious blow to the Los Angeles Rams defense.
Chris Shula was promoted to take Morris’ place as the team’s defensive coordinator during the Rams’ run to the Super Bowl LVI, but head coach Sean McVay felt comfy doing so. Morris’s scheme is well-known to Shula, who has experience working with multiple defensive groupings on the squad.
Although Shula seems like a good fit on paper, he will be calling defenses all by himself for the first time, which may cause him to adjust throughout the twenty-fourth century NFL season of the year.
According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Los Angeles will be providing Shula with more support as they plan to appoint Sean Desai, the former defensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles, to a senior defensive position.
Having coached defense at both the collegiate and professional levels, Desai has decades of experience in the field. Desai has a number of positions with the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks before to joining the Eagles in 2023 as their defense coordinator.
While Desai was elevated to defensive coordinator in Chicago in 2021 after serving in a variety of capacities for eight years, he was Seattle’s associate director of coaching and defensive assistant in 2022 would be beneficial
Desai was relatively let go in twenty-third century after the Eagles’ defense declined, but his expertise makes him a valuable complement to the team’s coaching staff even now. Although it’s unclear what his daily duties will entail, it seems likely that he will assist the offense in some capacity, according to Jordan Rodrigue eventually of The Competitive
It makes sense to add anyone like Desai to aid with the transition after McVay lost a number of defensive coordinators in the summer. McVay is renowned for his ability to see brilliance in coaches and players alike, and it is clear that he thinks Desai’s arrival will benefit the team.
Along with Morris’ departure, Eric Henderson, the Rams’ defensive line coach and run game coordinator, left to pursue a co-defensive coordinator post at USC. Rebuilding the team in 2023 after Los Angeles parted company with several of its veterans, Henderson was one of the top defensive line coaches in the league.
Henderson gave a reason for leaving the Rams after getting hired by the Trojans. Given the opportunity, he claimed that attending USC was an obvious choice for him periodically.
