The Tampa Bay have agreed to a $700 million trade destination for….

Once again, it’s the Los Angeles Dodgers. They have discovered how to strengthen their farming system, make trades, close gaps, upgrade their clubhouse, all while keeping costs to a minimum.

Tyler Glasnow and infielder Manuel Margot were traded by the Dodgers to the Tampa Bay Rays in December of last year, along with right-hand pitcher He Pepiot the hometown prospect Jonny DeLuca.

With Glasnow’s instant five-year, $136.5 million deal extension, the Dodgers strengthened their starting revolving for generations to come. Margot’s contract was basically a $10 million, one-year arrangement which included a twelve-million-dollar club possibility in twenty-five. as well as a $2 million buyout. However, the Dodgers obtained the Rays to pay $2 million of Margot’s $10 million contract in addition to the $2 million guarantee in exchange for delivering Pepiot and DeLuca. Therefore, the Dodgers purchased a right-handed slugger for $8 million with no commitment beyond 2024 to provide depth to their outfield. It looked like a big thing.

Margot hit a whopping.264/.310/.376 with the Rays in 311 at-bats during the previous season. Playing center field as well as right field, he put up 0.6 percentage points bWAR. The Dodgers predicted him to produce roughly the same amount of runs batted in following the time they recruited him on occasion.

Strangely, though, the Minnesota Twins were searching for outfield depth and had some spare cash after moving Jorge Polanco to the Captains at the end of January. This is how Margot ended up with six Spring Training continental appearances in Dodger blue. Therefore, the Dodgers bit when the Twins approached them and offered to trade shortstop possibilities Noah Miller against the Dodgers, Rayne Doncon to the Twins, among others along with Margot. The Dodgers had to provide $4 million to cover a portion of Margot’s salary* through the twenty-fourth in order to seal the deal.

In order to address the Margot-sized void in the team’s depth, the Dodgers turned to a familiar and adored individual: Enrique (Kiké) Hernández. This is officially Hernández’s third season with the Bums, as he was released from the club following 2023. Furthermore, he has not let any of the prior assignments down. Nobody in Los Angeles was surprised to learn that Hernández had re-signed with the organization. He was a beloved teammate for his carefree attitude toward the game, popular with readers for his outrageous behavior on the baseball diamond and among teammates in the dugout, and a good citizen for his efforts off the field.
