Scottie Scheffler provided a really insightful response regarding Tiger Woods…
With his recent tee-to-green play, world number one Scottie Scheffler has evoked comparisons to Tiger Woods. When asked what he had learnt from Tiger in an interview conducted before The Players Championship, Scheffler had a candid response.
Scheffler thought back to being matched with Tiger in the 2020 Masters final round when questioned about him. Watch his comment in the video below, provided by Golf magazine’s Dylan Dethier.
The fact that Tiger birdied the 12th hole in that round is mentioned by Scheffler. With that enormous amount, Woods was eliminated from the competition, even though he was already out of contention. Most players would just give up and play through the rest of the round, eager to leave the premises, if they were in that scenario.
Five-time Augusta championship and 15-time major title winner Tiger had nothing left to show, Scheffler said, so that was very impressive. That just serves to highlight Tiger’s competitive nature and the fact that his mentality has set him apart from his contemporaries more so than his skill and hard ethic. Tiger’s “never quit” attitude has enabled him to qualify for the finals in 142 straight tournaments. That is an astounding record that is very unlikely to be surpassed. Additionally, Scheffler mentioned how Tiger gives every shot his all, regardless of the day—whether it’s Thursday or Sunday. He has been so exceptional over the years because of his degree of focus, which has enabled him to bounce back from setbacks or injuries to consistently rank among the sport’s best.
