One of the greatest scorers of all time is Kevin Durant. Not many defensive specialists could stop him because he was a Texas native when he entered the league. Jason Kidd and the Dallas Mavericks, though, might have figured out the puzzle. It all worked out when they let loose with PJ Washington against the Phoenix Suns.

PJ Washington has locked up a plethora of other players. His ability to shut down guys defensively has earned him the nickname “PJail” from Mavericks supporters. Kevin Durant was just added to the list. All Things Mavs reports that of the Suns’ 22 attempts, the star scorer made just nine of them. With just 23 points from this, Durant’s nightly average of 28 points is significantly lower.

The moment the Suns saw a passing opening to Durant, Washington became aggressive. With easy, he stole the ball, forcing him into five turnovers. The Slim Reaper rescues the Suns with a three-pointer whenever there were no options to pass or make plays. He only made two of his eight shots against the best defender on the Mavericks.

He Kidd, among others who spent thirty-one minutes playing for Washington, was a skilled player. Along with scoring 12 points, the Mavericks forward also contributed an assist. With six rebounds, he completed the evening.

Devin Booker came up big for the Suns when Durant was having a less than stellar game. He scored thirty-five points and made eight free throws to spark their attack. This team’s double-digit scoring leaders are six players in all. To outscore the Mavericks or even simply Luka Doncic, though, seemed impossible with all of that.

The standout player for the Mavericks scored 41 points on 14 of his 27 shots. Having grabbed nine rebounds, he topped the club in that category. Additionally, Coach Kidd put him in charge of floor general tasks. His offensive execution may have contributed to three turnovers, but his 11 assists more than offset those mistakes. The Mavericks have now won 33 games this season. They might overtake the New Orleans Pelicans for the fifth spot in the Western Conference rankings if they continue to play at this level.
