Since the Kansas City Chiefs have been so successful for so long, they have virtually always been predicted to win, therefore Patrick Mahomes has had to create the chip he wears on his shoulder for the majority of the last six years.

The Chiefs were underdogs at kickoff in the previous two games, and that is probably how it will be this Sunday in the Super Bowl in the gambling hotspot of Las Vegas, when they take on the 49ers. Sportsbook indicates that San Francisco is a 1.5-point favorite on average, but that figure could alter before kickoff.

To win the Super Bowl in all three of their final games, just five teams have defeated the favorite in that particular year.

The Chiefs do not often fail to notice their opponents. And starting against the 49ers, who have been favored in all 20 of their games this season, in the Super Bowl is simply ridiculous.

That many times as the favorite, and only another NFL team? In the AFC championship game in 2021, the Chiefs were defeated.

Postseason contests are what matter in the end. You desire victory. Mahomes stated, “This is what you play for.” “And I believe that fire would have been lit because this is the time of year you work for and dedicate your hard practices to, whether we were the underdog or not.” We approach practice and work in a way that, in my opinion, dictates that we won’t tolerate anything less than excellence.
